Kindy Start
Kindergarten experiences are unique at Northlakes Public School!
For the last 15 years, Northlakes Public School has proudly been the only school on the Central Coast to offer weekly lessons for our preschool students. Parents and children are supported with a smooth and successful transition to the school life.
These engaging lessons are thoughtfully designed by passionate staff and delivered in our current Kindergarten classrooms each week, starting in term 2.
It is a valuable opportunity for students to become familiar with the school environment, build early friendships, and develop confidence before beginning Kindergarten.
Why this program unique and appreciated by parents and students:
- it develops a sense of belonging for both parents and students
- students learn the routines, rules and expectations of ‘big school’
- it provides students and parents with the familiarity of the school environment
- friendships are made with future classmates
- students feel connected and secure in their new environment
- reduces anxiety for both students and parents – includes social stories
- allows educators time to get to know each child's unique needs, interests and skills
- over time it creates comfort for parents to express any concerns they may have regarding their child
