Our extra-curricular highlights
School sport, athletics and inter-school competitions
School sport involves participation in physical activities within a school setting, while athletics is a specific branch of school sport that focuses on running, jumping, and throwing events. Inter-school competitions are organized events where students compete against teams or individuals from other schools. These competitions allow students to develop skills, experience teamwork, and engage in structured sports competition, fostering personal development alongside physical health.
Cultural and language activities
Northlakes Public School engages in numerous cultural and language-based activities throughout the year. These initiatives play a crucial role in enhancing cultural awareness among our local students and community members from Aboriginal and the Torres Strait Islander backgrounds.
Student leadership opportunities
Student leadership opportunities are roles that involve taking responsibility for guiding our school, to help the students and school achieve goals. These opportunities allow students to develop skills like communication, organisation, and decision-making, while also serving as role models and representing their school to peers and the wider community. Examples include school captain and vice-captains, house captains and the student representative council.
Trips and excursions
Our students enjoy getting out of the classroom to explore, learn and try new things. These experiences help them grow, build confidence and see how their learning connects to the world.
